The LAI Lean Facilitator Workshop results from the collaboration of several LAI member organizations, including The Boeing Co., Lockheed Martin, MIT, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon. The course assists an organization’s in-house lean facilitator in four crucial areas of lean enterprise transformation:
- developing an understanding of key lean principles;
- learning various analytic tools used in lean transformation;
- learning requisite lean facilitator and leadership skills; and
- learning how to facilitate teams through lean events
Ideally conducted over a consecutive three- to five-day period, with additional pre- and post-event components, the Lean Facilitator Workshop starts with setting expectations and making the case for transformation, covers the entire process improvement spectrum from initial kick-off preparation to ongoing process metrics and review, and addresses each of the basic lean steps. Checklists for the overall lean project assessment as well as its major components (e.g., team kick-off meeting, SIPOC, value stream map, rapid process improvement, data template, and steering team update) are included, as well as topical references and glossaries.
