Degree Conferred:
Ph.D., Engineering Systems Division, June 2009
Research Synopsis:
The design and transformation of large-scale enterprises with a specific focus on flexibility as an enabling property. Traditional approaches to transformation aim at process without addressing underlying structure and at efficiency as an overarching performance metric. Structures both enable and constrain development and evolution of processes so can provide a strategic advantage in competition and strategic leverage when embarking on fundamental change in complex enterprises.
